Event Descriptions

Pillar Pub

You can always count on it! A solid way to wind down, relax, chill,
switch gears, take a break, socialize, or otherwise impede a mental break
down after a hard week of school. Located right here in Head Hall, and
guaranteed to take place at very least one Friday each month, convenience
is the Pillar supporting this Pub. Plus, as any good pub should, the
Pillar Pub always offers entertainment in the form of music and games,
but remember - this is YOUR pub, so feel free to tell us what to play and
when to play it.

Bowling/Laser Tag Night

The diamond in the rough. With a typically low attendance rate,
this is by FAR the most fun EUS event per-capita. Patrons and staff
of the venue are gob-stopped by the enthusiasm and, contrary to most
stereotypes, remarkably pleasant demeanor of UNB's Engineering
students as we comfortably assume control of their bowling lanes.
Most patrons are also impressed by our mad laser tag skills and
willingness to compete against any team bold enough to accept the
challenge.

Movie Night

Who has time to go all the way up the hill just to sit there for
2 hours staring at a screen right? But every couple months a movie
worth seeing DOES get produced, so the EUS does what we can to provide
you with your hard-earned right to stay current on pop culture by
playing one of the season's most raved about movies just down the
hall from where you're probably sitting right now. Just like any
other movie night with, the added extras you expect and deserve from
every EUS-sponsored event. No wallets required, and faculty
discrimination has no place in the Dineen Auditorium so bring your
broke artsy friend along too! Just make sure they shower first and
keep their philosophizing quietly to themselves.

Fall Freakout

The best halloween party on, or off, campus. What makes this party
so great? The engineers of course! Who else would put hours into the
design and implementation of costumes with moving parts and blinking
lights!?! It's not only the costumes that make this party though, the
appearance of the star trek crew, the occasional smurf, hundreds of
dollars in prizes, admission to the social club for an after party, and
scare-tacular games all help to make this event our biggest and most
popular all year with over 200 engineers and friends in attendance.

Iron Ring After Party

The iron ring ceremony is only open to applicants and those already
wearing a ring. The Iron Ring after party allows the graduating class to
celebrate with and rub in their new bling in the faces of classmates who
still haven't received their ring. Usually hosted at Dolan's Pub on the
last day of classes, come out to this biannual event and enjoy music by a great local band while giving the grad class a final good-bye.

ENGINEERING WEEK

First full week of classes in January. At least an event every day! See below:
• Chili Cookoff

The tastiest day of the week, this event is exactly what it sounds like! Experts make your best pot of chili; everyone else come out for a free lunch and judges the spiciest, meatiest and overall best pot!! The prizes for the winners are good, but the bragging rights are what's really up for grabs!

• Snow Sculpture
This traditional engi-week event hasn't been around in the past few years. But just imagine engineering related snow sculptures scattered across campus. all very tastefully and respectfully done of course...

• Car Rally/Scavenger Hunt

• Movie Night
The same as described above, however, since it is engineering week, we want to make this movie night a bit....more special. Think Star Trek, Transformers, or Iron Man

• Coffee House
This events shows off the talent of our engineering students that is usually hidden behind text books and calculators. So come out to this relaxing event hosted in the head rest and enjoy some amazing live music, delicious coffee and decadent baked goods.

• Engineering Cup
In 2007, the EUS decided it was time to show that engineers aren't just a bunch of nerds. We're actually pretty damn good at hockey. In this annual tournament, teams from each department play off in a round robin tournament throughout Eng. Week to see who will have the honor of playing for the Eng. Cup in the Engineering Week Marquee Event, the Eng. Cup Final. This is a fan friendly event with all the amenities you would expect at a hockey game including food and bar services, intermission games, 50/50 sales and, of course, full-contact hockey.

• Pubcrawl
After a long week of fun, what better than a pubcrawl to wrap thing up? This pubcrawl is much more laid back than first semester but is not lacking on beer and a good time!
